Fat Foods

Food: Yummy In My Tummy

It goes without saying that food is vital for survival. It provides us with all the good stuff and the bad stuff too, but there’s something about food on its own that makes it magical. Food has not always been a passion of mine; my family lovingly recalls that up until the age of about three or four, I was an extremely fussy eater. I would quite literally only eat a few vegetables and no meat. Boiled rice with diluted-soy-sauce was my staple diet.

Throughout my childhood I would refuse to try different foods. In my defence I have to say that most of why I didn’t want to eat something was to do with texture. Asian cooking provides the untrained palette with a wide range of interesting textures particularly involving slimy and ‘chewy’ type foods. I’m actually grimacing while I write this. After a little while, mum begun to realise making me eat something that’s going to make me vomit and lose my appetite wasn’t really going help a growing boy.

As time moved on and as I grew older and more independent, mostly to do with jigging high school I begun to try different foods for myself.

I am by no means a food snob, I love my hearty meals and home cooked meals and when I’m out I am always willing to try new foods and places to eat. That is ultimately how you find the ‘diamond in the rough’ right?

The right combinations:

As a Speech Pathologist I am acutely aware of the importance of meal-times. Now that I think about it I should make meal-times the main goal for all my clients. Actually, it can be quite cruel sometimes. See we all know that most children are motivated by at least one type of food, whether it be garlic bread, chocolate or biscuits. My job is to make them ask for them and hence ‘initiate’, whether it be through signs, pictures or speech. Yes it’s cruel but it leads me to the next part…

Food and Company: The right food with the right person or people makes a huge difference. Often the food takes second precedence to the company that you are with, rightly so, but obviously there are times when really the food is what you’re there for. Also what’s the point of a good meal when there’s no one to share it with?

Food and Music: These two little beauties go so well together. Nothing sets the tone of a meal better than music. How many times have we listened to rock/pop music eating McDonalds. You wouldn’t do that to classical music would you? I would! Though I suppose I would quite like the juxtaposition of eventually proposing to a girl in Maccas with Classical Music playing in the background. Whilst I may propose my guess is that I would get a NO and a “What the fuck?” look on her face.

Food, music and good company: A formidable combination.

Food and Sex: Now there’s definitely something magical about that, but I’ll leave that up to your imaginations.

Food, music, one good company and sex: Again that will be left to your own imaginations.

Making food: Whether it is a simple stir-fry, baking a cake or perfecting a delectable dessert a lot of fun and enjoyment is to be had too. The endless combinations and the satisfaction of knowing that you made it and hopefully other people enjoy it, is also second to none.

My aim for this section is not to review or critique food, I am no critic but rather provide a small database of the places I have had the opportunity to eat at which will hopefully assist other people in making a choice of where to eat. I will undoubtedly be unashamedly cutting and pasting their addresses and details from other websites, but for your satisfaction the links will hopefully be included as well.

Bon appétit !
